There will be a practicum on weeks 9-14.
The practicum time of
week 15 will be reserved to the final assignment.
The goal of the practica is to give the students the opportunity to
make their assignments under better conditions: the computers are reserved
to them only and they can receive help from the instructor. Otherwise, the only
requirement is that the students must hand in their solutions
the latest by the beginning of the next practicum, either made during the
practicum time or not.
Requirements:

Students are required to hand in at least five out of the six assignments
(5 * 10 points):
If more than five assignments are handed in, the best five will be taken
into consideration. If less than five assignments are handed in, this will
result in receiving less points. If an assignment is handed in after the
deadline,
3 points are subtracted from the grade of that given assignment. More than
one week of delay result in losing 6 points. And NO assignments are accepted
after more than 2 weeks of delay.
- Furthermore, there will be a final assignment. The final assignment
has to be done before the final test, and you have to bring it with you
to the final test. The second part of the final test is to make some
additions or modifications on your solution of the final assignment.
The points you will get on the final assignment are partly based on how you
have solved the original task at home, and partly on how you have solved
the task that you had to do during the final exam.

There will be a final test consisting of
- a a quick test on paper (25 points),
- and a task to be done at the computer,
based on a final assignment to be previously done (25 points).
You will be able to collect a maximum of 100 points during the course.
The final grade is the sum of the points, divided by ten. One gets
the higher grade only from .51 (e.g. a 6 from 5.51): in other words, an average
of .50 still results in the lower grade (e.g. an average of 5.50 yields a 5).
